Homespun Whispers
It may be the quietest press tour in memory, but Whisperin' and Hollerin' has caught a moment with Dave R. to hear his thoughts on bringing his lyrics out from the bedroom and onto the road with Sam Brown in this interview:
"After all, virtuosity's all very well, but not if the guy's a dick, right?"

Pop Goes the Archive
We're getting very close to shutting down the older uglier stuff. Hopefully you've seen some improvements, and things that you like. The last article in the now disappeared "articles archive" (replaced by the Articles link in the top NAV) is a doozy.
The hugely talented LFW member L. Fischer translated one of the best all-around articles from Swedish for your private edification .. it covers the death of the Housemartins, the Hugh Whittaker hatcheting incident, politics, and family matters. Give yourself some time (it's long), but read on ...
"Tony Blair can go and fuck himself with a broken bottle. The new Labour is a big fucking joke. It's not a left-wing party anymore. How far right can you go and still claim to be on the left wing?"

Biscuits Go to Your Head
Did anyone else read the promotion of Biscuit Boy's Fat Chance and think "gosh, Paul sounds a bit like he's reading his own clippings."?
Re-read this article from BBC.co.uk and see if you don't think Paul's being a bit unfair, particularly to those of us who love the arrangements as much as we love Paul's wicked lyrics:
"This is what is good with working with new musicians," he says, "It has exposed the members of Beautiful South a bit, they just stand there till they're told to do something."

Wayback Machine Delivers Old LFW Hits
In the spirit of spring cleaning (it's 76 degrees fahrenheit here in California), we've been trying to clean up the old turtle-sty for our ever patient readers. While the process of trying to pull all of the stuff that was linked off the site out of the Internet ether has been basically frustrating, we are happy to report at least one success.
The article was written by Jen Sansbury, cofounder of the List for Whoever and long-time spiritual counselor to TBS fans in exile (like in the US). Please read it with a copy of Raise the Flag in hand, and thank Jen and her successors for bringing together fans of devil dogs and genocide. Courage.

Time for Electric Shock!
We can't say it's a science, but the "What Beautiful South Album Are You?" quiz from Quizilla has started disturbing people with its eerie precision (particularly if it picks you for "Quench", we're told).
So put on your lab coat, pull down your trousers and take the quiz yourself.
Delores, she's plucked the coolest album of them all:
What Beautiful South album are you? brought to you by Quizilla

Scoring One for the Home Team
Gina's gone and scored again! Read this lovely piece of news (fresh, from January) from This is Hull about how Paul Heaton started playing football with local club Sculcoates Amateurs, stepping up from the Grafton's Sunday league team --
"He turned up on his bike, chained it to the changing rooms, and played the game as though he was any other player. That was Paul, he was so down to earth, there was absolutely no edge to him."
